DEAR Time

DEAR = Drop Everything And Read!

My niece loves to read. Ever since she was 3 years old, she already had fascination for anything that has letters and/or pictures on it. She likes flipping the pages of magazines and newspapers that she can find in the house. She just love looking at pictures. So as early as that age we spoiled her with different kinds of books. Wherever we go make it a point to bring books instead of toys so she will not get bored.

When she was younger her favorite was fairy tales. Now, that she's a little older, she still likes fairy tale but also stories with magic, and mystery on it. Lately, she's hooked on the series-kind. She likes going to the book stores too. Sometimes, when I don't have extra money to buy her a book she would just say that it's ok and that she'll just read inside the store. She also likes borrowing books from the school library and sometimes forget to return it on time so... hello, late book fees! Haha!

There are times when she gets carried away with the stories and get angry with the villains and talk to them loudly. Hahaha. I just remind her that it's a work of fiction and the characters are not "really" true.

What's good about reading books is that it has lots of benefits (Google it. Haha!). Personally, I see that my niece has increased her vocabulary because of reading. I tell you she says a lot of words that I haven't encounter in my 28 years of existence. Booyeah! Haha! She also speaks words even she herself doesn't understand so we google it. Aah learning together! And believe it or not I even I ask her if my sentence construction is right! Looser Me! Hehe.

I really suggest that books be introduced to kids at an early age. At 3 years old it's best to give kids light, handy and colorful books with LOTS of pictures on it. Don't give them expensive books because they will not appreciate it and because they're just kids they might just might tear it. And you should READ WITH THEM so that they'll appreciate the beauty of reading more!

Here are some of my niece's books. :)

Cupids Fall

OMG! I saw this video because of Chico Garcia. He tweeted about it with a title "Long Distance Relationship" so i was excited to see the link. I find it funny at first cuz i saw myself on the skype thing (Haha!) and I thought it was another cheesy love story. But then at the later part of the video i realized it was a very sad love story. :(

One of the first things that caught my attention was the song being played on the video... and then the lyrics. I LOVED it! I immediately looked it up on youtube and taddaaah...

The song is Cupids Fall by Once Upon A Time There Was Sausage Named Bob.

Karakiri Octopus Pillow

This is the first picture/post I fancied on the The Fancy website. When I saw the picture I immediately thought of myself because it's exactly how I sleep. It's my sleeping position (oo pwede rin na ako yung babae sa larawan. Haha!)! I really really liked it that I emailed the seller immediately and inquired of its price. She said it costs 70 euros + shipping fee which costs 40 euros (or more for international shipments). Well, it's too expensive for me so I didn't order. I hope someone will  make something like it locally. :)

Here some of the pictures that I have fancied:
